Ms. Lopez was born in Cuba and has resided in the United States since she was 21 years old. She visits her homeland regularly. Virginia has studied Afro-Cuban drumming with master drummer and recording artist Amelia Pedroso, and other teachers in both Cuba and the United States.
She has taught at drum camps in California, Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia. Ms. Lopez is also available as a solo percussionist and teacher. Virginia is the lead singer and director of her salsa band, Melao de Cuba Orchestra since she formed the band in 2005. Please visit her Facebook page.
