Work Study

Applications for the Born to Drum Work Study program are now open. You can download the BTD 2012 Work Study Application here.

The Work Study program helps to make Born to Drum financially accessible.

This is a great opportunity to contribute to Drum Camp and attend for a reduced rate. Selection to the work study program is needs based. Women attending camp on work study work about 15 hours. Most work is at camp though there are some needs for before and after camp. There are many different kinds of work. Some examples are checking in women as they arrive at camp, selling t-shirts, putting together the performance stage, making sure class and performance rooms are ready for use, driving a truck, assisting teachers with their equipment, staffing the first aid station, copying materials for camp, driving the shuttle.

The wonderful staff at Walker Creek Ranch do all the cooking and kitchen work, so none of the work study jobs involve cooking or kitchen clean up. There are no work study jobs for doing body work, teaching yoga, or teaching other disciplines.

The work study staff works in teams and creates their schedules together so that everyone can attend their favorite classes.

All work study awards are for the full 3-day camp. Please read the information on eligibility and responsibilities on the application form before applying.

This program is necessary to making the camp happen and the wonderful women on work study over the years have brought many talents, great attitudes, and a lot of energy and enthusiasm that contributed enormously to the success of the camps
