WDI: Ongoing Programs

Women Drummers International (WDI) produces the Born to Drum Women’s Drum Camp annually. This three- or four-day camp is usually held the July 4th weekend at the Walker Creek Ranch.

WDI also produces concerts or benefits featuring women master drummers and participates in community events such as Sunday Streets, the Excelsior Festival, the SF Dyke March and SF Gay Pride.

Drum Sundays is our program of monthly drum workshops led by women drummers in the SF Bay area and visitors. These are now held in Oakland. The San Francisco workshops begin in January 2013. We are looking for one or two volunteers to support the San Francisco workshop. This would include helping to set up and break down the room, assisting teachers with their instruments, and welcoming participants. We sometimes bring extra drums from Oakland and assistance with that is also needed. Volunteers have free admission to the event.

Our service program is Take Drums to Heart, bringing the healing arts of the drum to communities that might not otherwise have access to them.

We are always seeking talented volunteers to participate in the production of WDI programs and events.
