Born To Drum Camp Held in the Summer
Women Drummers International (WDI) produces the Born to Drum Women’s Drum Camp annually. This three to four day camp is always held in the summer. The original camp ground was at beautiful Point Bonita in the Marin Headlands in California. Then we moved to the amazing 1700 acre Walker Creek Ranch in Petaluma, Ca. Since 2013 we have been at the beautiful Bort Meadow in the Chabot Regional Park in Oakland California. This site is divine with it forests, rolling hills, wildlife and meadows. This year, 2016, we are celebrating our 10th anniversary of bringing together incredible women drummers from all over the planet!
WDI also produces concerts and benefits featuring women maestra drummers and participates in community events such as Sunday Streets, the Excelsior Festival, the SF Dyke March and SF Gay Pride.
Drum Sundays
Drum Sunday is our program of monthly drum workshops led by women drummers in the SF Bay area, most of whom are part of the faculty of Born To Drum. These workshops are held in Oakland, currently in the community venue Ashkenaz.
Take Drums to Heart
Our service program is Take Drums to Heart, bringing the healing arts of the drum to communities that might not otherwise have access to them.
We are always seeking talented volunteers to participate in the production of WDI programs and events.
